3D Printing Basics: a class at the San Diego Public library

Story:
I started volunteering at the local library that had recently opened up and helping out in the IDEA Lab, a makerspace with a variety of equipment such as 3D Printers, a 3D Scanners, Sublimation, Laser Cutter and more. During that time, I noticed that many people were curious about 3D printing but were unsure of where to start. At the time, the library didn’t have any classes in the 3D printing area. I offered to teach a class that was open to middle school and up.

Reflection:
The audience consisted of a mixture of elementary school kids to working age adults, surprising me with how many people came. At the end of the session, all of the adults came and thanked me for hosting a session open to adults as opposed to limiting it at teen level. This was my first time presenting in front of a large audience. I was very nervous presenting at first, but it became easier as I continued speaking. The first session ended up being too long, and I shortened the next sessions to 30 minutes each. I scheduled more sessions after the first went well.
