A conversation with cars about the possibilities of gas to electric car conversion
Story:
In middle school, I decided to found the Digital Art & Animation Club and contacted the Art teacher at the school. During one of the sessions, he told me about the iVIE Awards, a short film competition open to students of all ages. The iVIE Awards comprised many different categories such as Animation, PSA, and more. The category I chose to enter was #LoveElectric sponsored by SDG&E, participants created 1-2 minute videos advertising the benefits of Electric Vehicles.
My script consisted of a gas car and an EV, and mimicked the “Cars” style where the cars talked as if they were human. As opposed to purely advocating for EVs, I covered the possibility of gas to electric car conversion. I attended the film festival and won in the #LoveElectric category.
The following year, I entered the iVIE Awards #LoveElectric category again, with a film advocating about Electric Public transportation and I was nominated.
Reflection:
To create this film, I learned how to use Adobe Premiere Pro to assemble the clips. I also hand drew some of the animations. In this project, I was the script-writer, editor and director. I had to turn the facts of gas to electric car conversion into an entertaining film with storytelling.
